More than 1,500 Egyptians are taken out of Sudan

On Tuesday, 446 Egyptians and 189 others were transported by vehicle from Sudan, along with a Sudanese citizen who was in serious condition.

The Egyptian embassy in Khartoum, the consulates in Khartoum and Port Sudan, as well as the consular office in Wadi Halfa, resumed their round-the-clock efforts to evacuate Egyptians, according to Ahmed Abu Zeid, a spokeswoman for the Foreign Ministry. A total of 1,539 people have left Sudan so far.

As soon as the security situation eased, efforts were being made to evacuate a number of Egyptians and their families from an airport close to Khartoum, he added.

According to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's orders, citizens are being evacuated, according to Soha Gendi, minister of state for emigration and Egyptian expatriate affairs.

In order to protect citizens, Gendi stated, the procedure was being watched over by a national committee made up of all pertinent governmental agencies and organisations.

In collaboration with the Port Sudan consulate and the Wadi Halfa office, she urged the Egyptians stranded in Sudan to travel to ports and airports in order to prepare for their escape.

According to reports, all amenities are being provided for Egyptians and other nationalities returning through the border crossings at Qastal and Arqin by the General Authority for Land and Dry Ports, which is connected to the Ministry of Transport.
