Umrah is a spiritual pilgrimage that Muslims can perform at any time of the year. Unlike Hajj, it is not obligatory, but it carries immense reward and renewal of faith. For first-time pilgrims, the rituals may feel overwhelming, but with a clear guide, the journey becomes both practical and deeply meaningful.
✨ Step 1: Entering Ihram
Begin at the Miqat, the appointed boundary.
Make the niyyah (intention) to perform Umrah.
Men wear two white unstitched cloths; women wear modest attire.
Avoid prohibited acts such as cutting nails or using perfume.
📿 Step 2: Reciting the Talbiyah
Recite continuously: “Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk, Labbayka La Shareeka Laka Labbayk, Innal Hamda Wan-Ni’mata Laka Wal-Mulk, La Shareeka Lak.” This is a declaration of devotion and submission to Allah.
🕋 Step 3: Tawaf (Circumambulation of the Kaaba)
Perform seven rounds around the Kaaba in an anti-clockwise direction.
Begin and end each round at the Black Stone (Hajar al-Aswad).
Recite prayers and supplications during Tawaf.
🏃♂️ Step 4: Sa’i (Walking between Safa and Marwah)
Walk seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwah.
Men jog lightly between the green markers; women walk normally.
Reflect on Hajar’s devotion and perseverance.
✂️ Step 5: Halq or Taqsir (Hair Removal)
Men shave the head (Halq) or trim the hair (Taqsir).
Women trim a small portion of hair.
This act symbolizes humility and renewal.
