With 3,500 exhibitors, the eighth edition of Viva Tech—Europe's largest trade show for innovative technologies—is putting artificial intelligence (AI) front and center. AI is becoming more and more prominent this year. Although some people worry that AI may replace jobs, the first global AI jobs barometer from consulting and auditing firm PwC indicates that things are looking better. After examining over 500 million job offers from 15 countries—including the US, China, and France—PwC came to the conclusion that artificial intelligence (AI) is good for business.
A 25% Pay Increase
PwC's Executive Director of Technology and Innovation, Philippe Trocheux, clarifies, "AI engines are built using specific technology profiles. Companies are overpaying for these skills since there is a talent scarcity in this sector." He adds that salaries for positions that use AI to boost productivity but are not directly tied to AI are also higher—by roughly 25%.
A Shift in Perceptions Regarding AI
Executive views are changing, per an Apec study. Nowadays, over half of CEOs are less wary about AI, and a comparable proportion say they would like to be trained in its use in their line of work. This change is probably going to have a big impact on how people view AI.
