In response to Iranian aggression, the United States and Israel have reiterated their support for one another, with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken promising to step up diplomatic efforts to confront Iran.
Iran, however, has pleaded with the UN Security Council to step in and force Israel to stop using force against Iranian territory. Citing the U.N. charter, Tehran contends that its attack on Israel was a legitimate act of self-defense in reaction to the purported bombardment on its diplomatic mission in Syria.
