Grandmother Lifshitz, 85, was one of two hostages freed by Hamas on Monday. She was kidnapped from her kibbutz home in Nir Oz, brought on a motorcycle to Gaza, and put through a grueling ordeal that included beatings and bruises. Later, she entered a system of tunnels where she was met by individuals claiming to follow the Quran and was given assurances of security. On Tuesday, her daughter Sharone described it to reporters as a "huge network" as she spoke to them outside a Tel Aviv hospital.
Lifshitz claims that her captors separated her into two smaller groups, one with four other members of her kibbutz and the other with 25 other individuals. They allegedly frequently received medical care, consumed the same food as Hamas fighters, and slept on mattresses on the tunnel floors while she was being held.
They were quite generous to us and very kind, Lifshitz continued, "They really took care of the hygienic side of things so that we didn't get sick. They kept us tidy, according to Lifshitz. "They attended to every little thing. There are several ladies there, and they took care of everything and knew about feminine hygiene.
