The Nazlet Khater skeleton's face was reconstructed using research that was contested by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
Scientists just recreated the visage of an ancient Egyptian who passed away more than 30,000 years ago.
The skeleton is presently on exhibit at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Cairo, and recent interest on social media has been sparked by two of the researchers' recommendations.
The ministry released a statement on the findings of the Brazilian researchers' efforts to reconstruct the face of the skeleton discovered in Nazlet Khater in Upper Egypt.
The Brazilian researchers, according to museum officials, did not follow the proper and generally accepted scientific, administrative, and legal procedures in their research.
The statement further stated that "the two researchers did not submit any request to the museum authority for permission to photograph the skeleton of Nazlat Khater to study its anatomical measurements."
