Guided-missile submarine sent by the US Navy to the Middle East

In support of the US Fifth Fleet, which is stationed in Bahrain, the US Navy said on Saturday that a nuclear-powered guided-missile submarine was operating in the Middle East.

According to a statement from Commander Timothy Hawkins, the USS Florida arrived in the area on Thursday and started sailing through the Suez Canal on Friday.

It is stationed in the US 5th Fleet to support regional maritime security and stability and is equipped to carry up to 154 Tomahawk land-attack cruise missiles, according to Hawkins.
