Joe Biden encourages Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to forego the court reform

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, has been encouraged by Joe Biden, the President of the United States, to drop the proposed judicial overhaul changes that sparked massive protests throughout Israel.

Netanyahu was urged to drop the contentious court changes by Biden on Tuesday. Netanyahu retorted that Israel does not make choices based on external duress.

Biden discussed the problems in Israel when responding to reporter inquiries. I hope he steps away from it, Biden said in reference to the Israeli legal plan.

Netanyahu then released a statement. "Israel is a sovereign country that makes its decisions by the will of its people and not based on pressures from abroad, including from the best of friends," the Israeli prime minister said in a statement. He added that he would implement the anticipated judicial changes "via broad consensus."
