In a strategic move to align education with evolving labor market demands, the College of Science at Kuwait University has introduced three new academic programs: Cybersecurity, Financial and Actuarial Mathematics, and Data Analysis. Dr. Haidar Behbehani, Acting Dean of the College of Science, emphasized the university’s responsibility to prepare students for modern challenges:

The newly launched Cybersecurity program will focus on key areas such as digital cryptography, network security, and data protection. It has been developed to align with international standards, including those of ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology).

Dr. Zaid Dashti, Acting Head of the Computer Science Department, explained:

Offered by the Mathematics Department, the Financial and Actuarial Mathematics program blends analytical rigor with real-world applications in insurance, pensions, and investment sectors. It is accredited by the Society of Actuaries and includes practical training components.

Dr. Mishari Al-Furaih highlighted:

“This program doesn’t just prepare students academically—it trains them to analyze future trends and apply solutions in complex financial systems.”


📈 Data Analysis: Powering Decisions in a Digital Kuwait

The Statistics Department will now offer a Data Analysis specialization to meet growing demand in business, health, and engineering sectors. With Kuwait’s rapid digital transformation, this program aims to train students in interpreting large data sets and turning numbers into actionable insight.

Dr. Fatima Al-Madhkour noted:

“As data becomes central to national planning, trained analysts are crucial for informed decision-making.”
