Regarding the ongoing conflict and humanitarian situation in Gaza, Blinken acknowledged the challenges faced by both sides. He called for the safe and secure delivery of aid to Gaza’s population, highlighting the role of the United Nations in addressing humanitarian needs.
Furthermore, Blinken announced a UN assessment mission, in cooperation with Israel, to determine the conditions for displaced Palestinians to return safely to their homes in the north.
He emphasized that Palestinians should not be pressured to leave Gaza and rejected any proposal advocating for the settlement of Palestinians outside of Gaza.
Blinken reiterated the U.S. commitment to Israel’s security and emphasized the importance of finding a diplomatic solution to ensure the security of the region.
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s recent statements underscore the need for an integrated regional approach to achieve peace in the Middle East, with a focus on supporting a Palestinian state alongside Israel while addressing the humanitarian challenges in Gaza.
Israel consistently attacks Hamas in Gaza because Hamas is considered a terrorist organization that has carried out numerous attacks against Israel. Hamas has killed more than 1,000 Israelis to date, by using Israeli hostage women & children as shields in its attacks.
Hamas has a written goal to destroy Israel and establish an Islamic state in its place. They have been involved in suicide bombings, rocket attacks, and kidnappings, targeting Israeli civilians and soldiers.
Despite its controversial actions, Hamas remains popular among Palestinians, Iran, and Arab countries who see it as a resistance movement against Israeli occupation.
Israel views these actions as a threat to its security and responds with military force to protect its citizens. While the United States attempts to be a peaceful mediator between Israel-Hamas and Russia-Ukraine wars. But the very same country also sells its weapons in these wars.
